Household Chores to Keep Your Home Safe

By July 5, 2017October 2nd, 2018Summer

We all know chores keep your home looking great, but certain tasks can protect your family from household dangers. Here are some projects you should consider doing sooner rather than later:

Replace your water heater. Although pricey, it might be time to install a new one. After 10 years, you should replace your water heater. Waiting any longer can lead to leaks or bursts.

Clean your drains. Remove the stoppers in your sink and clean out any debris. This should be done several times a year.

Check your gutters. Clogged gutters can lead to rain overflow, which can cause water damage to your home. Each year, have your gutters checked by a professional.

Trim your trees and bushes. Keeping your lawn pristine can reduce the risk of fire hazards. Debris on the ground can be dangerous for pedestrians. If left unattended for long periods of time, dead plant matter can mold and rot, attracting insects.

Check your roof. Once a year, you should have someone come out to check your roof. Small fixes can help prevent larger issues.

Clean out your dryer. Lint build up in your dryer can cause a fire. Make sure you thoroughly clean it after every use and double check a few times a month to prevent potential danger.
